But the Enigma remains

Encryptions deciphered

Still a puzzle just the same

When in the darkest hour

A hero shines like the sun

Yet so many today

Don’t even know his name

Though in the darkest hour

He shined the sun’s light

Guess we can’t see the sun 

When it’s the sun at night

He was the posterchild genius

Of innovation

Diversity

Inclusion

In war or at the University

He shattered the illusion

You can only find true value

On the inside of the box

 

How many people

Seen through history’s eyes

Can be credited

For saving over 14 million lives

Cutting years off a world war

Like Turing’s tide

By turning tides

Yet

As names go

Turing’s hides

 

Where is our gratitude

Where is his statue

Who can you name

Who has earned it more

And yet his name

We forget or ignore

Plastic Hollywood heroes

We choose to adore

Or the best at the game

Whether on field or on court

 

Not me

No more

I choose to seek true heroes

Strewn upon History’s shores

Or today’s potentials

Knocking on tomorrow’s dark doors
