Day rises

Night falls

Angel’s wings

Devil’s horns

The rose is petals

As much as thorns

But they only make me bleed

 

Temperature rises

Water falls

The heavens sing

While evil scorns

There’s gold in medals

As much in stones

But granite’s all I’ll ever see

There’ll be no gold

No gold for me

 

But I can carve through stone

And from it build a home

First a stairwell

Step by step

Lift me out of this hell

Up to the skies

Where the heavens sing

No souls to sell

And though the days

They don’t rise for me

The sun’s enough gold

May have some left for me

 

The sun rises

The water falls

The roses have petals

As much as thorns

Only now

Enough petals for me

And the toil

To get here

Well worth the bleed

Make my own gold

If there’s not enough for me

If it need be alchemy

Then alchemy it will be
