A Taste of Fear - rAveNswAn
A Taste of Fear
A taste of fear
When bitterness makes your face cringe
The chills, the goose bumps
Hair standing on end
The aftertaste is black
Sudden wind hits your back
The only thing you haven’t dropped
Are your fingers from their white-knuckle grip
A mental trip
Subconscious slip
As you’re skating on sanity’s thin ice
And wouldn’t it be nice
If someone turned on the lights
In this starless pitch-black dream?
Maybe the falling tree in the near-barren wood
But no one will hear you scream
We all scream
For ice cream’s
Sweet taste on the tongue
All flavors under the sun
To remove the bitter taste of fear
Replaced by smile from ear to ear
Until an ice cream headache it brings
Warm and fuzzy replaced by stings
The chills, the goose bumps
Hair standing on end
The aftertaste is back
And like the bitterness, makes your face cringe
At the memory of
A taste of fear
