Thoughts On Thinking
Thoughts On Thinking
4.26.2020
For a caveman
To have an idea
Needed the sun
Above his head
But the sun
The same for everyone
Clouded his thoughts instead
Needed a fire of his own
To inspire thoughts unknown
And this fire
Needed a handle
And so man
Invented the candle
So now
To each man
His own flame
Unclouded thoughts
Left to remain
Forming ideas
The name of the game
And if you couldn’t
No one else to blame
But
As it is in life
One hurdle cleared
Presents the next
Another neared
For every idea
Pops in your head
A hot melting candle
Above it instead
No epiphany
Just burns
Or worse yet
You’re dead
Left burned by the ideas
Popped in your head
Progress
In baby steps
And stages
Attributing to
The Dark Ages
To think of an idea
No desire
When every idea
Resulted in fire
Until one day
An idea tapped
To think of ideas
While thinking-capped
Brilliance
Resulting in Renaissance
To think in safety
Progress’s response
Above your head
Wear a cap with a sconce
Trimmed with gutters and downspouts
To safely dispatch
The hot wax
Which prior
Only your head there to catch
But
As it is in life
One more hurdle cleared
Presents another
The next hurdle neared
The thinking cap
A contraption you’ll find
A burden to carry
Weighs down on your mind
Again progress
In baby steps
And stages
In order to prevent
Another Dark Age is
What it took to inspire
Using filament wire
A way to see the light
To think without fire
With the burden of weight
Lifted from your mind
Ideas come easy
Solutions you’ll find
Saved from Dark Age II
As from laziness, lulled
Came ideas, light-headed
‘Cause above them
Light-bulbed
But no rest for the un-wicked
The next Dark Age is feared
Because
As in life
One more hurdle cleared
Only presents another
The next hurdle neared
