I know there is a word for this, but it is not uncommon for words to escape me. I like humanizing things by the terms we refer them. For example, ...
"You poked the eye of the storm
Made the dark clouds cry"
As if a storm had eyes, if you would poke one, you could make it cry. I enjoy making the connections because they branch to further connections like how the cloud's crying relates to rain.
As If They Even Had Knees
3.23.2017
Not a word
Nor a warning
No reasons why
You poked the eye of the storm
Made the dark clouds cry
With more bark than the trees
You made the old willows weep
I say to myself
Wow
My oh my
I can’t help but think
How
Why of why
Would you do such a thing
What good could it bring
I look to the skies
Tell the clouds it’s alright
Whisper into the breeze
To calm the weeping willow trees
To make things right
Clouds will be clouds
Trees will be trees
There’s no need to fight
I’m begging you please
‘Cause the clouds can’t beg
And the willows can’t
Get down on their knees
As if they even had knees
So just stop it now, please
Not a word
Nor a warning
No reasons why
You stirred the pot of gold
Made it spill out the side
Took the cat’s nine lives
Then divided by nine
I say to myself
Wow
My oh my
I can’t help but think
How
Why of why
Would you do such a thing
What good could it bring
I scoop up the gold
Pour it back in the mold
Give lives back to the cat
I just multiplied them back
To make things right
Gold will be gold
Cats will be feline
There’s no need to fight
Yet you do all the time
The gold’s too soft
And the cat’s already
Forgotten its lines
As if it even had lines
You’re such a mean tease
So just stop it now, pleas
