The Wallflowers Don’t Bloom is a message I imparted to my children. Life is just too short of a game to let anything sideline you from playing it. I wrote The Wallflowers Don’t Bloom for them, but they are not the first I have imparted the message to. The message it contains is one I have always told myself and have done my best over the years to heed.
The Wallflowers Don’t Bloom
9.15.2011
Father to son
Time to go and become
The evolution of yourself…
That makes you the only one
Father to son
Step up to the plate now, don’t run
Don’t leave your life up on the shelf
For its shelf-life’s unknown
Live your life before it’s gone
It’s far too precious
To be left all alone…
Make it yours
(chorus)
Step up…step up to the plate and swing
Give your life…give your life your everything
For, anything less
Will have you miss the bus
Left to watch life pass you by
Left with regrets you confess
As you sit and reflect
You stop and ask yourself, “Why?”
Father to daughter
Earth, wind, fire and water
All the elements are there…
For happiness and laughter
Father to daughter
Earth, wind, fire and water
Spread your wings now; take air
Over the tears, through the laughter
Make the years in life matter
Make’m yours, Make’m real
Days to hours
Make’m feel, make it your time to steal
For you’re already a flower
Petals to perfume
Be the kind that you water
‘Cause, though they fill up the room
The wallflowers, they don’t bloom
They just fill up the room
The wallflowers don’t bloom
