This is about budding relationships…
You plant the seeds.
You provide sun.
You provide water.
But will the flower bloom against life’s adversities?
The optimist in me screams, “Yes!”

Developing

Persian rug patterns

On hanging paper lanterns

The lights are on in the darkroom

So there’s nothing developing here

But there are pictures of us still drying

Drops from their bottom corners

Symbolic of the crying

No longer anything developing there either

Used to be a ‘we’ there

Now there’s just a ‘me’ there

Patterns are developing

Of a relationship unfolding

To reveal me standing alone

And if art imitates life

Pixels fall

From pics no wall

Got a chance to hold

Never a frame or mold

To hold the pixels in

It’d leave me watching us fall apart again

My thoughts say I’m to blame

My heart, it believes the same

That is until

You returned to name

Yourself to blame

From your heart, an apology

In your arms a frame

Now Persian rug patterns

From hanging paper lanterns

Shine light upon

Our relationship developing

On the patterns of understanding

Unraveling, unfolding

Exposing what will become of us

And the image

Is coming into focus
