I long to give
The world of words
To hummingbirds
I would teach them how to sing
Without the words
Only their humming
They’ve much to say
But cannot say a thing
But if we give
The world of words
To hummingbirds
If we teach them how to sing
We’d have to listen
To what they have to say
Call them songbirds
And who’d it leave for humming
That’s selfishness
That’s just your fears
What to the world
Their songs could bring
Don’t make them suffer
For your fears
Teach them the words
And let them sing
The dictionary
Not a weapon
But a key
To the hummingbird’s cell
Kept from the words
It’s time we set them free
Give the world of words
To hummingbirds
And teach them how to sing

Fill our world with love
