From The Top Of The Ferris Wheel
11.5.2018
Feels like I’m riding a Ferris Wheel
With its neon night lights
Spinning throughout the night
But where will it take me
Never take me anywhere
But back to where I got on
Then into another line at the Fair
And that’s how it feels…
Fair
Back where I began
Only now made aware
Of the much brighter lights
I should reach for out there
Thanks to the height of the Ferris Wheel
Thanks to the night
The night from the top of the Ferris Wheel
Feels like I’m riding a Ferris Wheel
But it’s not from the safety
Of my seat makes me feel
There’s more for me in life
Than a gerbil in a wheel
Then it stops at the top
So close yet so far
But I swear I can plot
My name in the stars
Trace my name through a constellation
Of stars
For a moment
Stuck with my head in the clouds
Dreaming of my place in the stars
But I’ll never get there
Driving Ferris Wheel cars
At the hands of a wheel
When I need my hands on the wheel
A slight jolt and I’m back
Though I’ve never gone far
Remember right where I’m at
Stuck in a Ferris Wheel car
Now I’m on my way down
It always lets me down
Back to where I got on
Then on to another line at the Fair
And that’s how it feels…
Fair
It’s up to me
To reach for the stars out there
It’s on me that I chose
Just a line at the fair
So I leave the Fair
Off to write how I feel
Thanks to the height of the Ferris Wheel
Thanks to the night
The night from the top of the Ferris Wheel
