On A Path To Tomorrow

…And he opened the door

…And he stepped into the sun

The sun; it still lit the day

Sent him warm and on his way

Into this brave new land

This brave new land called Today

…And she opened the door

…And she stepped into the sun

The sun; it still lit the day

Sent her warm and on her way

Into this brave new land

This brave new land called Today

They go walking along

Though not together

But do they hum the same song

Through the same  sunny weather

Is it right or wrong

Though not together

Both where they belong…for now

Both trying to stay strong…for now

Stepping through the land of Today

Not kissing, holding hands in Today

Have they found or lost their way?

The question they each ask today

If they ask me for advice, I’d say

Leave the question on the shelf

Because Time, it knows all

And if they leave it to itself

Be patient, Time will tell

Whether on the paths that they walk

Leaves them alone, but only for a spell

Until they find they are on the same

Or find their paths are parallel

A fate decided without blame

Until then, don’t hang your heads

Don’t hang your heads in sorrow

Hold them up, supported by good friends

Good families and good memories

Don’t hang your heads in sorrow

As you walk

Both still warmed by the sun

Towards the land of Tomorrow
