To the Raven on the Gravestone
5.1.2024
A raven on a gravestone
Midnight form
Of feather and bone
At midnight
Contemplating life atoned
Versus a death
Marked forever to be alone
To the raven on the gravestone
Neither heads nor tails
A future buys
From golden coins
Placed on your eyes
In afterworld or otherwise
So place your values
Place them wise
To the raven on the gravestone
So hedge your faith
On other things
And pray for help
From angel’s wings
Though the raven knows
He has his own
He cannot make
That flight alone
To the raven on the gravestone
Words of the wise
Of feather and bone
To heed
A choice
But of your own
I’ve shared my voice
I’ve paid my loan
To the raven on the gravestone
