Area Grey

Area grey
Area grey
To deny it is
As if to say
To deny it is
To lose your way
Lost along the borders
Of black and white
Wrong and right
Day and night
When all you need
To find your way
The path that takes you
Area grey
Black and white
Night and day
Try to leave no room
For area grey
If Yin and Yang
Would have their way
Baby lamb wakes to thunder
But a black sheep from down under
Wakes to lightning
Finds it frightening
What they fail to understand
So does the baby lamb
Under wool of white
A trembling skin
In terrible fright
No different than
Not day and night
Down under kin
In lightning’s light
Right or wrong
Poem or song
Leave no room
For area grey
But it doesn’t need
To be that way
Who writes these rules anyway
Nature ignores them every day
Shadows under the sun
In the pitch black night
Still the stars and moon
But to Yin and Yang
They leave no room
No room for area grey
Stories of fiction
A living contradiction
Not quite
Not quite
So black and white themselves
If they were to blend
Though they never intend
But woven together from
Beginning to end
They share the ‘Y’ and ‘n’
They share
An area grey
They share the ‘Y’ and ‘n’
They share
Area grey
Area grey
Area grey
To deny it is
As if to say
To deny it is
To lose your way
Lost along the borders
Of black and white
Wrong and right
Day and night
When all you need
To find your way
The path that takes you
Area grey
