I wrote this a while ago, but have always liked it. If Stephen King wrote a country song, this is how I imagine it would roll...
Yesterday...
You were off tomorrow
Tomorrow...
You’ll be off yesterday
Don't miss today
No time to borrow
You’re off today
You’re off today
Read about one of the darkest planets ever found, Dark Jupiter, a.k.a. WASP 104b, in an article at ancient-code.com. Pretty cool stuff...pretty dark!
Woke up this morning with a goal that before I got up and out of bed I would have a concept with which to write around. I’m not sure where it came from, but within a few minutes I thought of a million grains of sand…and how a million grains seems like a lot, but how the distance they span is probably not that far. That thought then jumped to how some of life’s issues explode into seemingly huge events, only to find we’ve made mountains out of molehills. It may have put a million grains of sand between us, but only a hundred steps to make up the ground.

Cap the energy

Walking into work, joined a friend. It was a beautiful morning and he commented how the sun was out. I thought to myself, the sun is always out.
Let life’s storms pass.
I have always loved To Kill A Mockingbird so when Go Set A Watchman came out, I had to read it. From what I understand, the latter was Harper Lee’s first version of the story. An agent/publisher? recommended she rewrite it, but from the perspective of Scout when she was younger living the story as opposed to when she was an adult reflecting on it.
I know enough to know I don’t know enough and for now, that is enough.
Because writers are humans too,... well, most of them at least resemble humans...when you look at them out of the corner of your eyes...in a dark room...with strobe lights. Ok, I take that back, but writers are on this earth too!
As I mention in Don’t Listen To The Voice Of Treason, it is not the type of writing I want to put out here. I did so more because I believe I needed to. It costs a fortune to put our children through college and political agenda is not what we were paying for. Not to mention, it is just wrong to take advantage of people when they are emotionally vulnerable, but that has not stopped it from becoming commonplace in our world today.
I thought of gListen while driving to Paneras today. I wrote the initial draft at the stop lights along the way so I wouldn't forget it.
I love writing.
Don't take for granted or belittle our impact.
Had a great time at yesterday's Barnes & Noble Local Author Showcase!
A big thank you to all who provided support to the authors at both yesterday and today's events.
I probably wrote half of Through the Kindness of Ravens in the Barnes & Noble cafe' directly behind where I sat during the event. One day writing there and coincidentally wearing a casual jacket and one of my favorite fedoras, I looked up at the mural that surrounds the cafe's counter area...
Out of he corner of my eye and on the far end, I caught an image of the back of a man in a jacket and fedora. He is surrounded on the mural by famous authors, but has apparently not earned having his face and name there...yet.
But I can dream and I can set goals and I can write, and if I do it all and well enough, perhaps a reflection of the man's face can be added to the window he faces. Perhaps that face can even look similar to mine. Also, there appears to be enough room to fit a short little name that rhymes behind him, and my name fits those characteristics too.
It's rough but...ah come on, I was only trying it on!

Think about it...the Wrong Way sign is a sign that its makers hope you never have to read. If you can read it, you are going the wrong way!
I look at that from a writer's perspective and my first thought is..."Oh he!! no!" I mean, I've never written anything I didn't want everyone in the world to read!
Then the writer takes over and I ask, "What if it wasn't on a highway, but in life, where someone reads the sign?"
My wife Kineta will take a flower and pluck the petals saying, "He loves me...he loves me more." Brilliant really...it is a win-win situation.
Appropriately, there is an "Easter Egg" hidden in the picture I selected. Do you see it?
The first verse of Come A Time popped into my head and it flowed so easy I immediately had it rolling on repeat like a song you can't shake and don't want to. Then when I sat to put it to paper, It fell into it place in the lyrics like a foot into a favorite shoe.
Come a time
We’re meant to be
Come a time
When we’re a we
‘Til then
You’re just an I
And I am just a me
‘Til then
Whatever will…
Whatever will be
Will just have to be
