As long as it’s not criminal
Stand out
Be an original
Don’t worry what the others do
Doesn’t matter
As long as you stay true
Doesn’t matter
As long as you stay you
You stay you
Viewing entries in
In The Wind These Words
I spy
Across the room
A face I’ve known
For nearly forty Junes
A hand I’ve held
Through endless cycles of moons
Waning crescent
A cycle of phases
A wink
I don’t need a think tank
To think
She had me at the first
This sad joke will never end
Their fat lady
Doesn’t even know how to sing
Can’t hold a note
Or carry a tune
But a grand façade
Much more her thing
God help us
Need a miracle
Gotta teach that girl to sing
Take the beaten horse out back
And put an end to this whole thing
Because light and fear don’t mix
Days are the knights
The night’s light fix
And we all have our own ways
To turn the fear of nights
Into the comfort of days
Not sure what happened there
Now the air has cleared
But it had come out of nowhere
Then simply vanished
Into thin air
And only I saw it
Only I noticed it had been there
Politicians
They’ll tell you they are pumpkins
Bright and orange
Lovely pumpkins
Filled with seeds of promise
It’s all lies, it’s just a game
They’re more like jack-o-lanterns
Hollow, barren jack-o-lanterns
But they are jackass-o-lanterns
Giving the real jack-o-lanterns a bad name
The store has eyes
The store can see
And it’s my job to monitor
The sights it shares with me
Loss prevention my focus,
My job, store security
The store opens its eyes to me
It lets me take a look
It let me see the loaf of bread
The hungry young man took
But this man
He was no common thief
He had no job, no money, no food
In my observation, it’s my belief
A desperate man did
What he felt he had to do
Seven Wonders is the 400th poem in the In The Wind These Words collection.
Seven wonders
For the man who is not one
But perhaps where he has gone
Perhaps there he is one
And if you give him a chance
If you let him do his song and dance
It’s no wonder
He’ll try to convince you
He is one
I’ve left the door unlocked
I’ve left the lights on
I’ve left the ice cream out
Now, that wasn’t cool
But I’ve never left you
But you’ve left me
And you’re still gone
And it’s not right
No , left is not right
Left’s not right
You are not alone
Too many feel alone
You are not alone
Too many feel alone
Head down
Feelings, the same
Eyes closed
They all feel so alone
Get it right
Or you don’t get it
See the light
Or shade your eyes
Survive the night
Unless you let it
Unless you let it
Overtake you otherwise
So he saw the light
And he got it right
A fight they claim they’re winning
But if by stupid luck they win
It’s US who lose the fight they’re in
Please take the gavel away from them
Tighter gavel control I’m protestin’
Gavel down
Gavel down
Love’s got room
For all of us
It’s safe to assume
There’s plenty of space
Love’s got room
But call it destiny
Call it ironic fate
There’s room for all
Only none for hate
There’s no room in love
For hate
Ringtone’s the sounds of war
Don’t wanna hear it any more
The world is falling apart
Help pick the pieces off the floor
Won’t you please answer my call
Don’t even remember what all this fighting’s for
Won’t you please answer my call
I’m making a call for peace
Don’t want to fight anymore
A call for peace
Like seeing you now
It’s all too much to face
So while I build up the courage
I continue my race
To catch the sunrise in the east
To the west I must face
To catch a sunrise off the back of a truck
And in the evening
Driving east
And if I have any luck
I’ll catch the sunset in the west
Off the back of a truck
Because fewer are looking
Than looking to shine
Out there hoping their star
Of them all
Will out shine
And I’m hoping that none
Will shine brighter than mine
And so I shine on
Bend your arm then
Bend your shadow now
Some choices are yours to make
The risk you take
Chalk the rest to fate
And move on
Like it is all there is left to do
And the choice that I make is you
The choice that I make is you
At first I was afraid
But then this is what the doctor said
She said
Take two Laffy Taffy
Call me in the morning
You just need a couple laughs
It’s nothing too alarming
Pills are just comets
Their tails are full of warnings
Take two Laffy Taffy
And call me in the morning
But the best laid flans
Of mice and men
Often go in a pie
And a doe may be a deer
A female deer
But then you gotta poke a needle
Poke a needle in the eye
If you’re gonna sew a shirt
Gotta make a grown needle cry
